Sicilia! Non c'é rimedio mai. Exquisite writing, Barrie! Beautiful metaphors. For the sequel, may I suggest Jim Cumming's "Cool Like Casali." A perfect match! They will never understand that there is no end to vendetta. It is a way of life. https://substack.com/@jimcummings5251/p-142815545
That’s so kind, Susie. I am super-impatient to share my other entry, which even I really like, but I’m going to try and hold out until November when the first round of judging is done. I’ll just have to write some new stuff.
So many gems in this story, but “A few weeks later the girl left in the back seat of the priest’s car, the exhaust groaning at the shame of it.” is a shining jewel of micro fiction, a whole story in 23 words! Thank you for sharing and good luck!
Such fresh vibes! Good luck with your competition!
Thank you, Andrei. Every step teaches me a little more. Competitions are such a good push to do improved work.
Good luck!!! I’m sending lots of good vibes to your entries.
That’s very kind. I like this story but I love the other. Sending all my good vibes to that one!
Sending them both good vibes. Keep us posted. We are cheering you on!!!
I have to be patient until November. I’m going to try a few more of these longer 1000-2000 word stories
That’s sounds fun. Keep those juices flowing. Plus, it doubles as a distraction while you wait. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
🙌
You know, I really enjoyed reading this. Best of luck on the award!
That’s so nice to hear. That’s the very best kind of award!

I have Jim’s piece saved already, thank you so much Sharron
Some great turns of phrase. Next time I'm in a mood I'll hide it with a fedora!
Haha, styling it! Thanks for reading!
Gosh! A beautiful piece of work.
Your vivid imagery transported me.
Good luck.
That’s really very kind. Thank you so much for the encouragement
It is my pleasure. I enjoyed every word.
Really good to re-read this, Barrie. Not sure where the differences lie, but it’s beautifully done.
Literally it was taking words out, sharpening the phrasing. Maybe it’s good if you can’t see the joins. Thanks for the kind words.
I remember the first time I read this I was impressed… now I am more so - this flows beautifully… probably much like the red on the tablecloth!
Good luck with the competition Barrie… I’ve everything crossed for you.

I’m waiting with bated breath Barrie..
🙏💛🙏
I gave in and shared the other story, Susie. Watch out for ‘Little Butterfly’.
I’ve just spotted it Barrie, I’ll be with you ASAP.

My goodness, that’s such a kind thing to say. Really touched. Thank you for the good wishes. Much appreciated.
