Wednesday Critic - I would like to write the final chapter on a certain someone, myself, but alas, too many body guards...
Thursday Tattoo - you lost me at "bend him over the capstan" and "taking their turn". The tattoo twist could not redeem it for me. ( I am squeamish about certain subjects...)
Friday Snip - Creepy! ( but hilarious all the same)
Excellent stories, Barrie. I am partial to this micro genre. As you know.
Ah, thanks for reading. Dear Diary is a year old, one of my favourite attempts. Not all of them work … sorry about the squeamish bit. Sometimes the threat comes out a little too realistically!
Love these little doses Barrie! Also, was not a writer before Substack, now definitely a writer (yes, keep repeating until it doesn’t feel weird) and I absolutely can testify to that inner voice! 💛✨
Lovely to reread the old and devour the new Barrie, I am having one of those days, the dust bunnies are now actually laughing at me from dark corners I didn't know existed, they can no longer be ignored for fear of complete take-over, the ironing pile would kill a person if it toppled on to them... life calls loudly but words are taunting me too... oh the dilemma!
Words about ironing piles? A story about a dust bunny?
The wind is howling and my legs are aching after yesterday’s 137 kilometres on the bike, so I am indulging myself with words … gently collating tomorrow’s edition of the Encouragement Files; it is about curiosity so, of course, I am meandering, looking at this and that as I write and choose. Indulgent; yep. There are to dos to be done but tomorrow is another day!
137 kilometres?? That is quite some feat Barrie! I am not surprised you are resting achy legs today, it is well earned!
I could combine the two stories maybe, call it 'Angora Folds' perhaps?
I have just noticed your new post is up but will save for elevenses, my sheep are hollering and the chicken coop sounds like poultry war has broken out!
It should be perfect for elevenses. Chickens and sheep sound like the here and now! We don’t need farm stock. Next door is replete with goat + goose + cockerel sounds!
A fine little return showing for these micro doses. They stand up well.
I sneaked in a couple of fresh ones and surrounded them with favourites. Thanks for the kind encouragement. Always needed, always appreciated, Matt.
That makes me feel better about not having missed earlier ones then! 😅
Monday Diary - Best in the lot!
Tuesday Ice - Poor man. Is there no justice?

A beautiful collection. You and Justin are such inspirations to me!
So so kind!

Say it loud and proud, Emily … get that inner voice speaking out loud and introducing yourself as a writer!

Thank you for this Barrie, it's incredible! 💛
You deserve nothing less, you very busy fellow!
