Personally I've never been swooped by one and as I've grown older I've come to appreciate them for the beautiful creatures they are. Love listening to magpies sing. Sounds like summer.
That's so interesting ... I have always found their gatherings to be quite fun (and they always stay away so no 'swooping'). Their visibility makes up for the elusive jay (that shrieking 'shy woodland creature', our favourite corvid).
